Junior Developer

At the instruction of other members of the team, a Junior Developer assists with programming tasks per specifications, assists with Testing, and gives input to documentation drafts. This position requires training and study to come up to speed with the software development lifecycle, the business environment, current tools/applications, standards, procedures, product offerings, and developing in a consulting scenario as well as in an internal team.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Coding tasks as assigned
  • Having Code reviewed
  • Assisting with Testing (unit and integration)
  • Learning several applications/systems
  • Reviewing and providing input to Documentation
  • Developing/elaborating upon Requirements/Use Cases
  • Learning FDA regulations and their effect on software development
  • Periodic assistance with support
  • Compliance with internal change management procedures

Minimum Requirements (education and work experience):

Candidates must have BS or MS in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience with 0-2 years software development experience.

  • Fluency in C# and/or VB
  • Working knowledge of Software Testing
  • Working knowledge with SQL
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems and their operation

Knowledge/exerience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industries is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Modern software development life cycle methodologies (e.g. Agile, Test First, SCRUM)
  • C# (or equivalent), VB/VBScript
  • HTML, JavaScript, XML
  • DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) operation


  • Knowledge of HP Quality Center
  • Knowledge of Test Automation tools/techniques
  • Knowledge of, and ability to follow, Standard Operation Procedures, work instructions and regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of GMP, GLP, GCP, QSR, GAMP and 21 CFR Part 11
